Vice President JD Vance told reporters Wednesday that few, if any, industries other than automakers will get exemptions from tariffs, The Hill reported.
Vance spoke with reporters as part of a visit to Texas and the border with Mexico. Vance responded to several questions about tariffs. He said President Donald Trump most likely will not agree to additional industry-based exemptions.
“A number of industries have reached out to us to ask us for exceptions to the tariffs,” said Vance. “[Trump] wants tariffs to apply broadly. He doesn’t want to have 500 different industries getting 500 different carve-outs.”
