US Intel: China Building Wartime Military Command Center

China is building a wartime military command center in Beijing that would be 10 times bigger than the U.S. Pentagon, U.S. intelligence officials told Financial Times.

FT, citing satellite images, reported the command center is being built on 1,500 acres; the Pentagon sits on 33.8 acres. Further, the Chinese structure will include hardened bunkers to protect Chinese military leaders during a war, including nuclear, according to Thursday’s report.

Renny Babiarz, a former imagery analyst at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, told Financial Times that analysis “suggests the construction of several possible underground facilities linked via possible underground passageways.”
