President-elect Donald Trump is insisting that California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom must resign over the wildfires that continue to rage out of control in the Hollywood Hills, forcing the evacuations of more than 100,000 people, consuming countless homes, and claiming at least five lives.

“One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground,” Trump posted late Wednesday night on Truth Social. “It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault!!!”

Thursday morning, Trump accused Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass of “gross incompetence.”
