President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday he wants to rename the Gulf of Mexico to become the Gulf of America.

“We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring,” Trump said in a wide-ranging news conference from Mar-a-Lago, which aired in its entirety on Newsmax. “That covers a lot of territory. The Gulf of America, what a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate. And Mexico has to stop allowing millions of people to pour into our country.”

The president-elect has promised to reset relations with Mexico starting with the overflow of illegal migrants entering the country through the U.S. southern border. Trump also has committed to mending the trade imbalance which Trump says he will correct through the use of tariffs.
