President-elect Donald Trump is expecting to play host to the entire Republican Senate conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida sometime before his Jan. 20 inauguration, Axios reported Tuesday.
“Mar-a-Lago is special to the president,” a Trump adviser told Axios. “He’s at ease there. Everyone is. So it’s a good place to get everyone together outside of Washington. It’s team-bonding. Trump is very much the player-coach.”
The gathering is expected to be an informal follow-up to Trump’s meeting last week with GOP senators during their weekly policy get-together on Capitol Hill. Trump also is scheduled to play host to a group of Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday night, according to Politico, as well as a number of House Republicans this weekend.
