Now that the Republicans have secured a second term for Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., as speaker of the House, former Rep. Anthony D’Esposito told Newsmax on Saturday that “the American people want a unified front.”

With the support of President-elect Donald Trump to persuade some last minute GOP holdouts, Johnson was reelected to his leadership post by a vote of 218-215-1. The lone Republican dissenter was Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky.

D’Esposito said that while Massie will always “stick to what he believes in,” the American people “do not want to see chaos.”
