House Speaker Mike Johnson’s reelection Friday is a signal that “we finally have a Congress that is America First,” as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office, Rep. Burgess Owens told Newsmax Sunday.
“This began back in President Trump’s first term when we began to bring people to Congress to care more about our country than themselves,” said the Utah Republican on Newsmax’s “Sunday Agenda.” “It’s the first time that we’ve had a small majority in the House and the Senate. And yet here we are all on board [with the] first ballot and this is just the beginning.”
Trump has also been meeting with lawmakers at Mar-a-Lago “so we can make sure we’re on the same page,” said Owens.
