Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, told Newsmax on Monday that Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., needs to “make some changes” in four days to secure his vote to remain speaker of the 119th Congress.

“Or we might need new leadership,” Harris said in an appearance on “Finnerty.”

The new Congress will vote Friday for a new speaker, and Johnson’s reelection for the gavel is anything but a lock. Harris said there are at least a dozen House Republicans who remain noncommittal about voting for Johnson, while one, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., has said he will not vote for Johnson.
