New Orleans to Boost Security at Super Bowl, Mardi Gras

New Orleans Police on Thursday said there will be increased security presence at the Super Bowl after a man drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Day.

Bourbon Street will be closed to vehicles from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. “to ensure the pedestrian mall remains a safe space for everyone,” officer Reese Harper said in a letter posted on X.

“In light of the tragic events on New Year’s Day, we are increasing our security presence in partnership with other law enforcement agencies. The enhanced safety effort will continue daily, not just during large events.
