New Orleans was upgrading security bollards along a part of Bourbon Street in the area where a man killed 10 people and injured 30 on Wednesday by plowing his truck into a crowd, The New York Times reported.
The project, which stretched over a half-mile section of Bourbon Street, involved replacing old bollards, short posts meant to protect pedestrians and property from vehicles, with removable stainless-steel ones, according to the city.
The project, which started in November, was scheduled to be completed in “early 2025” before Super Bowl LIX, according to WDSU News.
