House Intel’s Turner: Let Ukraine Have Long-Range Weapons Systems

Restrictions placed on Kyiv by the Biden administration in its war with Russia are counterproductive, House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Mike Turner told CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, stating that Ukraine having long-range weapon systems could change the dynamics on the ground.

The Ohio Republican said, “The restrictions that are being placed on Ukraine by the Biden administration in this conflict … certainly are troublesome and do result in … a game of attrition on Ukraine.”

Turner said he “absolutely” advocates lifting further restrictions on Ukraine, stressing that Kyiv is “finally in a position where [it] can hold Russia accountable … they have now entered into Russian territory. If they can use long-range weapon systems to hold accountable Russia’s valid military targets that are attacking Ukraine, we can change the dynamics on the ground.”
