The Peach Bowl in Atlanta will have an increased security presence on Wednesday due to the attack earlier in the day in New Orleans in which a pickup truck driver plowed through a crowd of pedestrians, killing 10 people and injuring 30, the Atlanta Police Department announced, 11Alive reported.
Atlanta Police said it already carried out “increased security measures,” including additional officers, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where the Texas-Arizona State playoff football game is taking place, but noted it’s also boosting the number of more specialized units and officers to the downtown and midtown areas “to ensure the continued safety and security of residents and visitors.”
Atlanta Police added that “we acknowledge the concerns raised following the events earlier this morning in New Orleans. Our thoughts and prayers are with the city of New Orleans and the [New Orleans Police Department].”
