Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley told Newsmax on Friday that it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone what President Donald Trump is going to do now that he’s in the Oval Office because he’s “doing exactly what he said he’s going to do.”
“He campaigned over the course of this election cycle, telling the American people that he is going to secure the southern border, he’s going to restore the economy, and he’s going to make our communities safe,” Whatley said on “Newsline.” “That’s exactly what we’re seeing done here. It should be no surprise to anybody that when he says, ‘We are going to initiate the largest deportation program in the history of the country,’ that that’s exactly what they’re going to do.”
During his first week in office, Trump greenlit what he has billed as the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducting raids across the country to arrest illegal migrants and return them to their countries of origin.
