Tim Sheehy, the former Navy SEAL challenging Democrat Sen. Jon Tester to represent Montana, continues to surge in polls.

A New York Times/Siena Research poll released Thursday shows Sheehy ahead, 52%-44%, an 8-point swing from its previous poll, and a Public Opinion Strategies survey conducted for the Montana GOP shows Sheehy with a 51%-45% lead.

“Montanans overwhelmingly support the strong conservative leadership of Governor [Greg] Gianforte, Attorney General [Austin] Knudsen, and Secretary of State [Christi] Jacobsen. And they are fired up to send Tim Sheehy to Washington and retire Jon Tester once and for all,” Montana Republican Party Chair Don Kaltschmidt said in a statement.
